Overview

May please be informed that SCI engages cadets directly through its own schemes and has not authorized any person / agency to engage cadets / trainees on its behalf. No service charge whatsoever is payable for application in SCI.

Pass in 10+2 examination from a recognized Board with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) with not less than 60% marks. Students who have appeared for 10+2 examination and waiting for results are also eligible to apply & qualify for examination subject to fulfill the percentage criteria prior the commencement of course.

OR

Pass in B.Sc (PCM)/B.sc (Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the years) with marks not less than 60% from a recognized University.

OR

B.E. / B. Tech. degree from an AICTE recognized college with marks not less than 50%.

And Minimum 50% marks in English in 10th or 12th or B.Sc or B.Tech or B.E.

Relaxation for SC/ST candidates
5% relaxation in educational qualification marks. However, there is no relaxation in English marks.

Qualification criteria will be as per IMU and DGS guidelines.

Not more than 25 Years of age as on date declared in IMU CET prospectus.

Relaxation for SC/ST candidates – 5 years i.e. upto 30 years of age.

Candidate must have good health and be fit for sea service as per existing MS Medical Examination Amendment rules 2016 / MLC 2006 applicable to seafarers.

Physical standards are as mentioned below:

  • Height: Minimum 157 cms. OR as per the DGS Guidelines. Relaxation in height for the candidates from hilly and tribal areas will be in accordance with DGS/Govt. guidelines.
  • Weight: Proportionate to height and age.
  • Hearing: Normal
  • Visual Standard: 6/6 (Normal Eye). Defective colour vision (Colour Blindness) NOT accepted.

Important Note: Medical fitness check will be done through our empanelled DG approved Doctors and NO WAIVER will be given in the abovementioned standards. Candidates not meeting abovementioned standards should not apply.

People with disabilities as mentioned in the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995 are NOT eligible to apply for TNOC course.

12 months Pre-Sea residential training course to be conducted at Maritime Training Institute, Powai, Mumbai followed by 18 months of structured shipboard training as TNOC (Deck Cadet) under Indian Maritime University (IMU) – Directorate General of Shipping (D G Shipping) project, leading to Degree in B. Sc. (Nautical Science).

 

 Important Note: The selection of candidates is only for DNS course & shipboard training to facilitate completion of requisite sea-time for DNS course, and the shipping corporation of India does not have any obligation or does not guarantee any further employment or extension of ship board training. However, the company may employ cadets after their completion of DNS course & obtaining the 2nd mate certificate of completion issued by Directorate General of Shipping, Govt. of India, at sole discretion, depending on the availability of vacancy in its fleet.

How to Apply

  1. Candidate has to log on to www.imu.edu.in and MUST fill the online application for IMU-CET strictly following the instructions given on their website.
  2. Candidates need to apply online for MTI, Powai, Mumbai through the link given on this page.
  3. Please note the following form fee structure:
    1. Application Fees : Rs.500/-for General and OBC candidates
    2. Rs.300/- for SC/ST/Girl Cadets

Important Note:

Candidates MUST note that IMU-CET Online Application Form AND MTI, SCI Online Application Form are two DIFFERENT forms and filling both of them separately is mandatory. Candidates not applying for or qualifying in IMU-CET will not be admitted at our SCI – Maritime Training Institute, Powai, Mumbai.

Complete SCI Online Application Form and send the SELF ATTESTED scan copies of the documents as mentioned to us at mti@sci.co.in, mentioning “DNS Admission – candidate’s name” in the subject of the email.

Print HALL TICKETS for IMU-CET from IMU Website: www.imu.edu.in

Appear for IMU-CET computer based examination at your respective examination center as given in your Hall Ticket.

Admission Process is Over

General Information and Instructions

  1. Passport is compulsory for seeking admission in DNS course. Original Passport to be shown to the Institute prior to confirming the admission.
  2. Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply.
  3. No application fee is payable to SCI.
  4. The online application link will not be accessible after the due date and time.
  5. If any information provided by the candidate is found to be false or incorrect or not in conformity with the eligibility criteria, then his / her candidature is liable to be rejected at any stage of the selection process or after selection or joining.
  6. No modifications are allowed after submission of the online application form. Incomplete application form in any particulars may be liable to be rejected. Write NA whichever is not applicable.
  7. The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd reserves the right to change the number of vacancies and cancel / restrict / modify / alter the recruitment process, if required, without issuing any further notice or assigning any reason thereof.
  8. It is mandatory that the candidates should have a valid e-mail id and mobile number while applying in order to facilitate faster communication. All future communications and correspondences will be through emails and / or our official website only.
  9. Reporting dates will be notified to selected candidates by either of the means viz. E-mail / Phone / website updates.

Candidate should bring all the original valid documents and one set of attested photocopies of all certificates at the time of final verification after they qualify IMU-CET and are admitted by “The shipping Corporation of India Ltd.” for DNS Training. Candidates failing to produce Original documents for verification will not be allowed to continue for the verification / selection procedure.
  13. Students who have appeared for 10+2 examination & are waiting for results can also apply & qualify for admission subject to their securing the mentioned percentage of marks in the eligibility criteria section in PCM prior commencement of the course.
  14. Candidates who qualify IMU CET will only be eligible to get admission in our institute. Passing IMU CET – June, 2018 is mandatory to get admission. Common Entrance Test (CET) is conducted by IMU (Indian Maritime University, Chennai, Government of India) all over India.
  15. Date, time and venue of IMU CET Examination are normally intimated through personal email ID and by logging on to IMU website. Candidates shall take a printout of the admit card available online.
  16. Eligible candidates, who do not receive call letters/ intimation for IMU examination, are required to take print of hall ticket from the university’s website [ www.imu.edu.in & report along with proper identification and passport size photograph at the IMU examination center on the day of the examination.
  17. Final merit list will be prepared as per the ranks obtained in IMU-CET.
  18. The Company will not provide any lodging, boarding, travelling or any other incidental expenses to the candidates incurred during admission process.
  19. SCI-MTI reserves the complete right towards final selection / rejection of the candidates for DNS course at any stage during the training and/or selection procedure.
